Are your business finances your biggest business headache? Feel lost when reading your financial reports?

Finance Essentials is a program of five, fortnightly sessions for you to explore and dig deep into the often baffling world of small business finances.  Program facilitator, Tracey Edwardes of Business Station will lift the financial veil (and destroy the mystery) as she guides you through the finance basics; understanding various financial reports, establishing sound systems and processes, budgeting and forecasting as well as knowing your obligations to the ATO as a small business owner.

Finance Essentials will increase your knowledge in business financials that will help you to lead your business with confidence.  You will be able make informed and timely financial decisions that best serve you and your business.

Over the five sessions topics covered but not limited to include:

Session One – Bookkeeping Systems

Exploring your mindset to finance
Understanding record keeping – what records you need to keep
Exploring systems and processes for efficient booking practice
Xero versus MYOB – find out which is best for you

Session Two – HR and Payroll

Superannuation and the ATO – your obligations
Find out the difference between contractors and employees
Payroll basics all business owners should know

Session Three – Reading reports and knowing your key numbers

Profit and Loss Review
Balance Sheet Review
Profit and Loss and Balance Interaction
Breakeven
Costings, Margins and Mark-ups

Session Four – GST and ATO

Setup and Reporting
Compliance and Data Entry

Session Five – Sales Forecasting, Budgeting and Cashflow

Setting up Budgets in Xero and MYOB

Each session will involve an accountability aspect to check in, assess progress, answer questions and identify any issues arising. This will then be followed by delivery of content. Live coaching will be a significant part of the learning experience with an ongoing action plan created for participants to guide and track their own learning. Additional support will be provided between fortnightly sessions via email.

Meet your facilitator, Tracey

Tracey Edwardes, Corporate Services Manager and Finance Advisor – Business Station, is passionate about empowering business owners around understanding the numbers in their business.

Recognising the need for a systemised training program specifically for business owners, she has moved from educating business owners one by one as part of managing their bookkeeping to developing training workshops and a systemised coaching process.

Tracey has a Bachelor of Education and is a highly regarding Certificate IV (Financial Services) trainer; as well as a registered BAS agent, a Practicing Member of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers and a member of the Australian Bookkeepers Network.
