SBA Awards celebrating local small business...

Stirling businesses step up and take a bow!

The Stirling Small Business Awards is a major annual event that has celebrated local small business's since 1994.  With almost 23,000 small businesses in the greater Stirling region, these awards provide an opportunity to acknowledge the contribution small businesses make to employment and the local economy. 

Being a finalist or winning an award not only acknowledges your hard work as a small business owner, it serves to elevate your credibility and your business. 


Your business is either based within the City of Stirling region or you have significant business activity in this area.

Upon confirming your eligibility, simply complete the online entry form for the next SBA Business Awards.

All nominations must meet our guidelines and be submitted online no later than the closing date. All nominations will be assessed by an independent panel of Award Judges.

To be eligible for the awards your business or organisation must:

  • Have a current ABN
  • Have been operating for at least 12 months
  • Have less than 50 FTE staff
  • Not be publicly listed
  • Not be a government agency
  • Give consent to being profiled in the media

Further eligibility criteria applies for our individual Award Categories:

  • To be eligible for the Mayor’s Visionary Award you must be a Stirling based business.
  • To be eligible for the Emerging Business Award you must have traded for a minimum of 12 months and maximum of 2 years.

Our next SBA Awards is scheduled for Saturday 6th May 2023 and will be held at the Rendezvous Hotel, Scarborough.

I was fortunate to be the recipient of the 2019 Innovation Seeker Award. The application process was very straightforward and while there were some searching questions to answer, it really helped me to focus on the reasons why I had embarked on this journey.
Like many small business owners, it can be pretty lonely trying to bring your ideas to fruition. For me, the biggest benefit was to gain some corroboration that I was on the right path, which gave me the confidence to push on. I am indebted to the Stirling Business Association for their support and recognition. I cannot recommend the Awards highly enough.

CEO, WA Leaders

AS CEO of WA Leaders and founder of the CFO Centre Australia, Rupen is able to indulge his passion of supporting business growth and inspiring the next generation of leading companies by surrounding them with the knowledge and networks required to support this growth.

Rupen Kotecha is a strategically and commercially minded UK qualified Chartered Accountant now based in Perth with extensive experience in the aviation and freight industries as well as in the field of logistics.

Having spent three years as CFO on the Board of British Airways Regional Cargo, he has extensive experience in restructuring, merger and disposal of businesses.

Prior to this he worked as CFO for an international logistics and supply chain company. He was responsible for running their UK, Hong Kong & China business units. This included setting up JVs in Hong Kong. He has also worked as a business analyst for a management consulting company with exposure to the likes of Shell, British Gas and Ford. In addition he has had further international exposure through Herbalife Europe where his work included assisting businesses in The Netherlands and Norway.

Over his career to-date, which has included exposure to global organisations, Rupen has acquired invaluable knowledge and experience of the problems and opportunities facing large and small businesses in sales, operational and financial areas.

With a Bachelor Degree in Computing Science and an MBA in General Management, Andres is an International strategy growth coach with more than 15 years of experience leading and developing high-performance leadership teams on three continents. Having experienced his own Start Up, Grow Up and Scr@w Up, and later Major Growth, Andres has a deep understanding for business growth needs.

Driven by his relentless passion for learning and empowering entrepreneurs, Andres also has a Diploma in Business and Executive Coaching, International Scaling Up Certification and continues to learn and certify in Extended DISC profiler and Lean Six Sigma. Working with CEOs and their leadership teams, Andres experience extends across various industries with companies from 10 to 19000 staff.

Founder and Principal of Vitil People Solutions, established 2008, Vanessa focuses on creating environments where people can thrive and grow. A boutique HR consulting firm, Vitil provides flexible, reliable and affordable outsourced human resource support, people solutions and recruitment services to SMEs across multiple industries. Having experience running businesses for over 30 years, the lessons learned means that people remain the focus to running a successful business.

Sue Papadoulis is an ex journalist and founder of national publicity company Profile Media, which focusses on delivering results without the PR-firm hype.

Sue spent 10 years in radio and television within WA and London.  That experience was then backed by 12 years in public relations and government corporate communications arenas where she dealt at a ministerial level with issues management around contentious projects.

Sue is also the founder of The Good News Movement – her own content channel aimed at promoting positive stories in the media. 

Sue holds a Master’s Degree in Creative Writing and has co-authored three books relating to business success.
